Digital cameras can be broadly classified into
five different types. These five different cameras are used in
varying situations, while taking pictures of a particular kind.
When the digital camera designed for a specific setting is used in
that setting you will get good results. If the proper camera is not
chosen the results can be disastrous. Hence, it is useful for
anyone to learn about the different types of digicams and
understand their attributes before purchasing a digital camera. The
five basic digicam types and their purposes are explained
below.
Subcompact Digital Camera:
Subcompact Cameras are one of the smallest and most light weight
digital cameras around, its main advantage being easy portability.
These cameras, small enough to be accommodated in a purse, offer
fine quality pictures. However the camera does not have appreciable
options and hence should not be sought if you are looking for
something with complex setting capabilities.
Compact Digital Camera:
The Compact digital camera is the perfect camera for everyday use.
The settings involved are minimal so the device can be used fairly
easy. Compact digital cameras are the most ideal cameras for
personal usage such as in parties, outings, and vacationing.
Advanced Compact Camera:
Advanced compact cameras are bulkier than the subcompact and
compact digital camera types, are not the right kind of cameras for
personal use. These cameras have a bit more of professional touch
and are used mainly for capturing objects in where there is a lot
of light, for instance, the sunrise.
Super Zoom Cameras:
If the kind of photography you want to take involves nature, travel
or sports, then Super Zoom Camera would be the right choice. The
camera is equipped with good settings options and long zoom
capabilities that render the camera perfect for such shoots. The
camera suffers the only disadvantage of being voluminous and
heavier than the compact range of cameras.
SLR Digital Cameras:
SLR digital Cameras are completely professional cameras and are
designed specifically for serious photography enthusiasts. These
cameras are more expensive, but are definitely worth what you will
be paying for.
